Outline

Squaring the Circle was a ceramic exhibition presented at Arthshila, Santiniketan from 24th June to 27th August 2023, in collaboration with Indian Ceramics Triennale. Building on the success of the inaugural Triennale, Breaking Ground, held in Jaipur in 2018, this show served as an exciting prelude to their January 2024 edition, Common Ground.

Catalogue Design

2023

Curated by ceramists Madhavi Subrahmanian and Reyaz Badaruddin, and with a wide range of artists participating, this exhibition delved into the theme of unity and impossibility, drawing inspiration from diverse sources such as philosophy, mathematics, and the realms of playfulness and restraint. Through their unique perspectives, the artists responded to this prompt in myriad ways, and we were honoured to assist Madhavi and Reyaz in documenting this vision of the participating artists. Having previously collaborated with Reyaz, we were excited to be part of this endeavour.

When designing the document, we took a minimalist and clean approach, with a conscious effort to highlight the distinctive pieces of each individual artist. The catalogue was printed for distribution at the exhibition, and served as a promotional tool through digital circulation.
